1 Thessalonians 5:17

17 Pray without ceasing.

Today while finishing up my day working from home, I felt the urgency to stop and pray. Immediately I stopped what I was doing and bowed down on my knees and began to pray and worship God. It is not unusual for me to stay in constant prayer, but today was different I needed to focus and devote just a few minutes to stop what I was doing and focus totally on God and his goodness. I began to thank God for all he is doing right now at this moment in time. I once had a hairstylist who would always stop and pray at a certain hour of the day, she would politely excuse herself and take the time to pray. I admired her devotion, even though we did not have the same beliefs. Certainly, if I love God and my life is committed to him I can take the time to stop and pray, especially in the season we are in where a life of prayer helps us to live a life of peace and assurance that God is in control and he is continually watching over us and meeting our every need. I encourage you today to stop and pray, find a quiet place to just be alone with God, bowing or lying prostrate before him, pour out your heart to him, cast all your cares on him, love on him, and let him love on you.

With his love

Cuddle with Daddy

I John 3:1

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

Last week I saw a man on the news fighting for his life in the hospital. His wife and family hoping for him to come home soon. The highlight of this story that stood out from all others, was when the reporter asked his little girl what she missed the most since her dad had been in the hospital, she stated: “we cuddled every night”. This week God blessed this man to return home to his family, and at the end of the interview with the news reporters, he mentioned that he and his daughter were able to cuddle together. There is nothing more precious than a little girl’s love for her daddy.

As a child growing up I did not have my daddy to cuddle up to, and I always longed to have that relationship with my daddy. When I accepted the Lord into my life the relationship I did not have with my earthly father I now have with my heavenly father. There is nothing like a little girl’s love for her daddy, and there is nothing like a father’s love for his daughter. I can cuddle with my daddy God when I am afraid, alone, hurt, or just need to feel his love for me. God is with us in this season and he wants us to cuddle up with him, in prayer, in meditation, and in times of praise and worship. The Love our father has for us will sustain us through these times we face. Let God lavish you with his love through his word, his promises assure us that everything is going to be alright, just as an earthly father will assure his child with a warm hug, God wraps his arms around us and assures us he will never leave nor forsake us.

Father God we love you, adore you, and magnify your name. Thank you for loving us and protecting us in this season. Thank you for holding us in your loving arms as a loving father would.

In Jesus name we pray. Amen

In his care

Ephesians 6:18

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

Webster’s dictionary defines frontline as a military line formed by the most advanced tactical combat units, also the most advanced responsible or visible position in a field or activity.

For several weeks now I have heard the media speaking of the healthcare workers as being on the frontlines. When I think of frontlines I think of war and the men and women who risk their lives to fight for this country. In this season of COVID-19 not just the healthcare workers are on the frontlines but also grocery workers, truck drivers, volunteers, etc. Watching the news there are so many people risking their lives every day and it is absolutely heartbreaking. A helpless feeling rests heavily upon me as I mourn for lost lives, families struggling and elderly alone and afraid. Amid so many emotions coming at me at one time, such as sadness, fear, heartbreak, for a moment I may think I am not doing enough to help the situation,

God reminds me, YOU are on the frontlines, praying and interceding for people all over the world.  I am not a nurse, doctor or grocery store worker, but I am a Christian and I have a very important role to play in the recovery of our nation and that is to pray without ceasing, in these times of uncertainty, fear, loneliness, and economic hardship. As Christians, we have to stay constant in prayer and stay focused on the commander and chief. God is in total control. Ephesians 6:18 tells us to pray always knowing that nothing is too hard for God, not even COVID-19. As we stand on the frontlines in prayer let us not become weary but become strong in the Lord. Our families, co-workers, neighbors, friends, brothers, and sisters in Christ, Pastors, and the entire world needs us to stay suited up and always on duty. God hears and answers prayer no matter what it looks like God is working and our effectual, fervent prayers are availing much. Keep praying and watch God turn things around.

Lord, you are worthy of praise and have all power in your hands. God, I lift up people on the frontlines all over the world and the people they serve, and I thank you for healing this nation, thank you for meeting every need physically, mentally, financially and spiritually.

In Jesus Name I pray

Wait AND Trust

Psalm 27:14

14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Proverbs 3:5

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Every day we face situations that cause us to wait. We wait in line at the grocery store, we wait in traffic, we wait at the doctor’s office, at the hair dresser, wait, wait, wait and wait some more. There are other times we are waiting on a mate, a job promotion, or healing in our bodies. It is not always easy to wait, most of the time while we are waiting we lose patience, get upset or frustrated, in the waiting. A few weeks ago I was praying about a certain situation, I needed God’s direction. God said Wait! , but not only do you wait but wait and trust. Waiting without trusting leads to frustration, but waiting and trusting God brings peace. Waiting does not mean do nothing, we should pray, meditate on God’s word, and continue to thank God that he is working on our behalf, no matter how long the wait. My daughter had been waiting for a full time position on her job, I saw her become frustrated but I also saw her waiting and trusting, I saw her remain faithful, I saw her continue to get in the word for over 2 years while she waited on God to move on the hearts of men. Through her waiting and trusting, God blessed her last week to become a full time employee! God is faithful, will you Wait and Trust?

I can do this!

Psalm 37:5King James Version (KJV)

Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

God wants to lead us and guide us and direct us in every situation and circumstance in our lives. Will you commit your ways to him and put your trust in him? When we fully surrender All to God, when we stop trying to do it all ourselves God can and will bring it to pass.

20/20 Vision

Habakkuk 2:2

And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

Sometimes we put our dreams and visions on the back burner in our lives and forget about them.

And there are times we don’t think we can accomplish the vision God has put in our hearts to do, sometimes we allow what we see or what we hear deter us from fulfilling the vision God has assigned for us to do.

Are you trying to write someone else’s vision or accomplish someone else’s dreams?

God wants us to see the vision he has for us to do and sometimes we can see things clearer when we write it down and look at it every day and watch it come to pass.

I know God has placed some great things in each one of us young and old, what are you waiting for? God has given us wisdom to write it and 20/20 vision to see it come to pass!!

Don’t Stress

Don’t Stress!
Philippians 4:6-7
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
This is the time of year that we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, however it can be the most stressful time of the year. Most of us get stressed about shopping and buying gifts, however there are some who are stressed this time of year as they look back on their lives over the past twelve months. People may begin to feel down because they did not accomplish everything they planned, or you were praying for something to happen and it did not happen YET and you feel like you failed. Be encouraged God has not failed and he cares, don’t worry about what could have been look to Jesus and celebrate!

Instant or Homemade

Psalm 27:14King James Version (KJV)
14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
Instant or homemade?
Instant pudding, instant grits, instant oatmeal, instant milk, oh and don’t forget instant credit.
Our lives are built around everything being instant, no one wants to wait, takes too long, and I want it now.
I remember my mom making banana pudding from scratch, and I would help her make the meringue and it had to be just right, and it took time to get the meringue to stand up, and that made the perfect topping for that pudding.
I am no cook but I have come a long way, making homemade banana pudding takes time and patience, which I learned since becoming an adult.
Also as we get older we realize that when we wait on the Lord, he will give us the courage to endure waiting in the midst of whatever circumstance we are facing
Whether it is the job, the mate, the house or for that unsaved loved one to get it right, with God he can give us the courage and the strength to WAIT!
Wait on the Lord today, be encouraged

Take the label off!

Take the label off!

Deuteronomy 28:13Living Bible (TLB)

13 If you will only listen and obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I am giving you today, he will make you the head and not the tail, and you shall always have the upper hand.

Labeling theory: People in power decide what acts are crimes, and the act of labeling someone a criminal is what makes him a criminal. Once a person is labeled a criminal, society takes away his opportunities, which may ultimately lead to more criminal behavior.

According to the labeling theory once you are labeled a criminal you will always be a criminal. As I studied labeling in one of my classes I likened it to who God says we are. Sometimes in life we are labeled and that label can follow us for the rest of our lives and effect every aspect of our lives, jobs, family and even our self-esteem. No matter what you have done in life, Take the Label off! You are the head and not the tail you are above and Never beneath, no matter what the record says or what people say you are more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ!

Overweight Christians

Hebrews 12:1-2
12 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Recently I have put on more weight than I would like to it seemed to creep up on me, and now it is definitely time to take action or I could just do nothing and take the risk of developing health issues and or a new wardrobe. Just like being overweight in the natural causes problems, being overweight spiritually causes problems. When we take on more than we can handle, or worry about things we can’t fix we become spiritually overweight. Have you ever seen an overweight runner? We cannot run this Christian race carrying a lot of extra weight, medically speaking weight that is higher than what is considered as a healthy weight for a given height is described as overweight or obese. Obese means to be grossly fat L I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be grossly anything. So today I encourage you to get that weight off, go to God in prayer, meditate on his promises for your situation and I guarantee, you will come out a lightweight champion!!!!!!
