What Do You Say?

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:18(AMP)
18 in every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
Growing up we were always taught to have good manners, to always say please and thank you.  And when we forgot our parents would say “What do you say??? Today in our society we sometimes see people forgetting to use their manners or choosing not to. When God blesses us every day to wake up, to have all the activity of our limbs, to have cars, to have jobs and our family, how can we forget to say “Thank you”.  Sometime in our day to day walk with the Lord we take things for granted.  We may be going through a hard situation, the word for today says in Every situation be thankful  and continually give thanks to God, while you are thanking him in the situation he has already worked things out!!!! Thank you Lord, Hallelujah!
    Peace and Blessings

Compared to Who?

John 10:10King James Version (KJV)

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Listening to the radio one day I heard the famous quote by Theodore Roosevelt “Comparison is the thief of joy”. Many of us compare ourselves to others, we compare jobs, husbands, children, cars, even ministry and when we do this it literally Steals our joy. God made each of us unique, with unique gifts, talents and abilities. When we compare ourselves to others it can cause depression and low self-esteem and cause us to question God. God never intended for us to compare ourselves to others, whatever state we are in learn to be content, content with your car, your husband, your shape, your looks, your house, your job, your children, your ministry, etc.

Compare yourself to Jesus and be like him, there is no other comparison!

“Come”

d3a58bd8cc6c62627c997dd2e3c712dd39d7f47a6e86241e4a065426575e00c6

I was visiting my seven-month-old grandson, Harten, last week and I remembered beckoning him to come to me, he was in his walker, and I wanted him to move towards me. Harten would not move; he just looked at me with that sweet grin and began to jump up and down and laugh at me as I tried to make him walk toward me in his walker. Sometimes we do God as Harten did me, God tells us to “Come,” but we laugh at him, Lord I can’t do that, not now, I am afraid I will fail, what if……. Excuse after excuse. When God tells us to come, he will be with us, and he will lead and guide us. Sometimes we ask to speak to us and assure us that it is him leading us, just as Peter did in the bible, he told Jesus “if it is you bid me come” and Jesus told him to come, everything was ok until Peter was distracted by wind and became afraid.Today I encourage you not to become distracted by fear, circumstances, people, etc. But step out of the boat in faith and keep your eyes on Jesus.

Prayer

Father God we ask you to give us the courage today to “Come” trusting that you are with us and our steps are safe with you.

In Jesus name Amen

Who does that?…. God does!

We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:27 (NRSV)

My husband and I watched an excellent movie last week about a busy pastor, an angry prejudice contractor and a zealous teenager who liked to text while driving. The pastor, the contractor nor the teenager knew one another. All things do work together as it did in the next turn of events in this movie. The pastor’s son was killed in a car accident by the teenager, and his organs were donated to the contractor’s daughter who needed a heart. The contractor was having financial problems and needed some work, and the pastor needed a contractor. The two met initially but not on good terms, the pastor was black, and the contractor did not want to do a job for a black man.
The pastor did not give up on the contractor, he went back to him and offered him the job again, and the contractor accepted. The contractor was a little shocked that the pastor came back and he wondered why…all things working together. The pastor and his assistant had a dinner meeting with a young lady who was funding the project, and they happened to be eating at the restaurant where the owner was the mother of the teenager. After the dinner meeting, the pastor overheard someone mention the teenager’s name, and he asked the waitress where was the teenager, and he was told she was in jail.
The pastor had already purposed in his heart to forgive the teenager who hit his son, so he not only forgave her but he dropped all charges, and she was released from jail. The contractor was in awe that the pastor came back to him and insisted he take the job after he was rude towards him, he asked his wife “Who does that? and his wife replied, “God Does!” The contractor’s faith was reaffirmed, and God changed his heart, and his daughter had a brand new heart, a heart that did not have any racial ties, the teenager gave her life to Christ and was forgiven by the little boy’s whole family. As Romans 8:28 states all things do work together, even though sometimes we cannot see how God is going to work it out. In this movie, we see how God changed the heart of a prejudice man and allowed a young boy to be taken away from his family to give his heart to a person of a different color, and a teenager to see the heart of God through forgiveness.
No matter what you are facing in life today, God is working it out for your good!

Prayer

Lord help us to know when we are facing a difficult situation or waiting for an answer to prayer, give us the assurance that you are working all things together for our good.

In Jesus Mighty name we pray
Amen

It’s Not Yours!

Ownership is the act, state, or right of possessing something  . Most of us consider ownership a great accomplishment, owning your first car, first house, your first pet, your business,  etc.. Ownership brings a since of achievement. Once we claim ownership of something we can boldly say that is mine I paid for that, I have the title to that car or that house. Ownership is a great thing, however in our lives in Christ some things God does not want us to own, it is Not Yours! A lot of things we take ownership of do not belong to us, however we continue to say my depression, my headache, my arthritis, my high blood pressure, my cancer, my addiction, my eating disorder, MY,MY,MY! IT’S NOT YOURS, send all these things back to the pits of hell where they belong. Why do we take ownership of such things? Yes sickness and disease come but it is not ours, I don’t want to own any of these things. Jesus suffered, bleed and died on the cross so that none of these thing are ours. When we take ownership of something we take care of it, we pay special attention to it, we want other people to enjoy these things with us. Most of the things we take ownership of make us happy, feel good about ourselves. When was the last time you heard some one say I am so happy I own my cancer now, I feel great! No cancer does not make you feel good about owning it and neither does any other sickness or disease so why would we want to own anything that can destroy our lives, make us feel bad, and cause pain and agony for our families.  Do not take ownership of it at all, take ownership of your Joy, your Peace and your Wholeness , your healing! IT IS YOURS!!!!!

John 10:10King James Version (KJV)
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Isaiah 53:4King James Version (KJV)
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

1 Peter 2:24King James Version (KJV) 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Prayer

Lord forgive us for taking ownership of the wrong things, Lord help us to take ownership of the abundant life you have promised us in you.

In Jesus Mighty name we pray

Amen

Begin Again

Philippians 1:6 Amplified Bible (AMP)
I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return].
Greetings!
Here I am on a beautiful Saturday afternoon beginning again what I have thought about and longed to resume since January. Well here it is August and so much has happened since I last wrote. On October 7, 2015 the Lord laid upon my heart to start a weekly women’s devotional as an extension to a women’s outreach ministry called Titus’2’women. The devotional was called “Wonderful Wednesday Word for Women.” The devotional was sent out via text and email to over 50 women. Well since January I have lost my brother to kidney cancer and  a very special aunt to liver cancer. The last devotional I sent was titled “2017 Strong”. My brother and I discussed in one of our last conversations about who we were strong in, I would ask him who are you strong in, and his response to me was a bold “In The Lord”. After my brother passed away in Feb, there were several times that I tried to “begin again”, I knew I needed to get back to what I knew I was called to do, encourage others, but I could not seem to muster up the strength. Not relying on God’s strength I continued to procrastinate and make excuses. My aunt passed in April and that seemed to be another set back, but I know that she would have encouraged me to press on and do what the Lord wanted me to do. She was one of my greatest encouragers. During the time I was not writing there was one of my mom’s best friends who would often tell my mom how much she missed getting the devotionals and that would really encourage me, the devil would try to inject his lies ” no one really wanted to get those devotionals any way”; However I knew if those devotionals only touched one person then my labor was not in vain. So here I am today to begin again, to touch at least one person, to encourage, to inspire, to cheer them on to begin again. No matter how many times you have to begin again, just do it. Galatians 6:9 Amplified Bible (AMP)  Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give in.  As I begin again, I decided to take a new venture to reach people, and this time not just women, even though that is my passion to reach women especially the younger women. My aim now is not only to encourage women  and be an example as Titus 2 teaches , but to also reach out to all. I also decided to take on a new venture with this blog, my very first. I pray that all who visit this post will be inspired to live life with the strength, love and joy of the Lord.
Prayer for us
Lord bless us to always persevere and not become weary in well doing help us all Lord to Begin Again!
In Jesus name
Amen
